CUMMING, GA. (Jan. 20, 2020) — OrphanWise, Inc., a charitable organization dedicated to equipping adults to work with children who have experienced trauma, today announced the installment of its inaugural board of directors.
Douglas C. Pileri has been named board president of OrphanWise. Pileri, who brings more than 30 years of expertise to the OrphanWise leadership team and has served in senior leadership positions at IBM, Thomson, and Kodak, will share his valuable insight to support OrphanWise’s strategic goals. In the nonprofit sector, Doug serves as vice chairman of the board of directors of Music For All, one of the nation’s largest and most influential music education organizations. Additionally, Doug previously served as the executive vice president of Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, where he led his team to achieve strategic goals aligned with the organization’s culture, framework, and vision.
Jon Newcomer, principal at Jon W. Newcomer, CPA, P.C., joins the board of directors as treasurer, bringing with him more than 30 years of tax, financial and consulting experience. As a CPA and owner of a private practice, Newcomer is dedicated to helping clients achieve business success by helping them establish practical and sound tax and financial processes. Jon also brings extensive experience as a nonprofit board member. He has served as chairman, treasurer and board member of organizations ranging from his local church, Horizon Christian Academy (a local private school), a faith-based charity assisting women in overcoming substance abuse, as well as other faith-based organizations.
Brenda Walker, board secretary of OrphanWise, holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from American International College and has worked with children for more than 20 years. Over the course of her career, Walker has worked directly with children in crisis, serving as a campus counselor at a residential facility for at-risk teenagers, as well as an counselor for children and families in crisis.
In addition to establishing its board of directors, OrphanWise also formally its board of advisors. Members of the board of advisors include Andrew Wexler, CEO, Herschend Enterprises and Teresa Neibur.
